NORFOLK, Va. - A Portsmouth man was sentenced on July 1 to two years in prison for defrauding the Virginia Medicaid program by submitting more than $188,000 in false claims for a residential nursing facility.
According to court documents, 47-year-old Lopez Scott operated Turning Points Residential Care, a business authorized to provide residential support services and skilled nursing services to recipients of Medicaid. Between October 2016 and October 2019, records say Scott submitted numerous false and fraudulent claims to Virginia Medicaid, known as the Virginia Medical Assistance Program (VMAP), which misrepresented that 5,847.75 hours of skilled nursing services had been provided to a Medicaid recipient. ....

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - A Williamsburg wellness center owner was charged with defrauding Virginia Medicaid and other health care programs out of over $2 million.
According to court documents, 45-year-old Williamsburg woman Maria Kokolis owned and operated Pamisage, Inc., a center for integrative behavioral health and medicine with a focus on weight management issues. Beginning in or about 2018 and continuing through February 2020, Kokolis executed a scheme to defraud and overbill various health care benefit programs and the Virginia Medical Assistance Program, also known as Medicaid. ....

NORFOLK, Va. A Williamsburg wellness center owner was indicted by a federal grand jury and is accused of defrauding Virginia Medicaid and other health care programs.
According to the indictment, Maria Kokolis, 45, of Williamsburg owner and operator of Pamisage, Inc. received a total of at least $2,189,342 in fraudulent health care benefit program reimbursements, a portion of which came from the U.S. government. 
Pamisage, Inc. offered services in integrative behavioral health and medicine, with a focus on weight management issues.
Kokolis is accused of allegedly defrauded health care programs and the government by submitting false claims and engaging in multiple overbilling schemes,” according to Raj Parekh, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. ....
