Before they officially opened their doors to the public, the owners of Sunshine Quilt Corner were collecting face masks to donate to Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters and a nursing home in Norfolk.
A few months after opening, co-owners Jennifer Moose and Teresa Newton started a monthly charity sew event at their Newport News shop to continue giving back to the community.

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. - Cancer patients are among the many groups of people eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine under Phase 1b in Virginia. Hampton Roads oncologists are getting the word out about getting the shot.
Lately, Tian said some conversations with her patients have revolved around the vaccine.
âI think getting the cancer patients out there to get the vaccine, that s just part of the community,â she said.
âCancer alone puts people at risk for severe complications from COVID-19 infection,â Tian added. âIf they catch the infection, they re at a high risk of dying, so they should be better protected.â
