State police ask for help in damaged drone investigation The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Appomattox Field Office, in cooperation with the FAA and U.S. Department of Transportation, is seeking the public’s assistance with information regarding a drone that was shot several times in Campbell County.  The incident occurred Oct. 6, 2020 when contractors, working for the Virginia Department of Aviation, launched a specialized surveying drone south of the Lynchburg Regional Airport. Minutes after lift-off, the operators heard gunshots and communication with the drone was lost. The operators were able to re-establish communication with the drone and programmed it to return to the airport. The drone had sustained significant damage consistent with being struck by gunfire. Flight data downloaded from the drone indicate it was near the 1200 block of Lynbrook Road in Rustburg when it was shot down.

State police identify Petersburg man killed in I-95 shooting and last updated 2020-12-16 11:06:06-05 PETERSBURG, Va. Virginia State Police have identified a Petersburg man who was shot and killed while driving on Interstate 95 Sunday night. State police responded to a crash on I-95 at the 49 mile marker in Petersburg at 10:46 p.m. When troopers arrived at the scene, they found a car in the median of I-95 with an unresponsive driver and multiple bullet holes in the exterior of the vehicle. The crash investigation determined the car was traveling south on Interstate 95 before it ran off the right side of the interstate, crossed back over the southbound lanes, ran off the left side of the interstate and struck the guardrail, Virginia State Police spokesperson Sgt. Dylan Davenport wrote in an email.

State Police ID man found shot to death on I-95 as Petersburg man

The Progress-Index PETERSBURG Virginia State Police said Wednesday they are now investigating the death of a man found shot in a wrecked car on Interstate 95 Sunday night as a homicide, but they are not saying yet if that death resulted from a shooting incident reported minutes earlier in a neighborhood adjacent to the interstate. State Police Sgt. Dylan Davenport identified the victim as Quintell Pulliam, 35, of Petersburg. Pulliam was discovered in his vehicle southbound on I-95 around 10:45 p.m. Sunday. He was taken to Bon Secours Southside Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation s Richmond Field Office is continuing its investigation into a homicide that occurred in the City of Petersburg Sunday night, Davenport said in a VSP news release. That was the first time Pulliam s death was referred to as a homicide.
