PESHAWAR: The Governor Inspection Team (GIT) has detected serious irregularities in Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Sheringal, Upper Dir.
Charges of nepotism and favoritism against the incumbent vice-chancellor have proved and disciplinary action is recommended against him. The GIT has submitted its report to the governor, who is also the varsity chancellor.
The inspection report reveals that the VC had appointed close relatives to different posts, including his daughter and nephew, in violation of merit.
A daily wager deputy director security/admin was illegally assigned five different additional portfolios with extra allowances. Director Internal Audit was assigned the responsibilities of treasurer. The legal advisor of the university was found to be superintendent store. ....

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has approved the master plan to establish an agriculture university in Swat and ordered the officials to start work on the cost and PC-1 of the project.
He said this while presiding over a meeting on the establishment of the University of Agriculture Swat here at Chief Minister’s House Peshawar on Thursday, said an official handout.
KP Minister for Agriculture & Livestock Mohibullah Khan, administrative secretaries and other relevant officials attended the meeting.
The chief minister said the PC-1 should be presented before the competent forum for a formal approval by mid- April. ....

KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durani and other Pakistan People s Party leaders for issuing recommendation letters to the Vice-Chancellor of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University Lyari (BBSUL), Karachi, for appointments of their favorite candidates in the university.
According to the official correspondence available with The News, NAB call-up letters have been issued to Speaker Siraj Durrani, former Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, adviser to Chief Minister Sindh, former MNA Nabeel Gabol, former MPA Saniya Naz Baloch, former Sindh minister Jawaid Nagori, former MNA Shahjahan Baloch and former MPA Muhammad Saleem Hingoro in an investigation against Vice-Chancellor Akhtar Baloch over alleged illegal appointments in the university without tests, interviews and advertisements of the posts. ....

Guru Nanak varsity to bring about educational revolution: minister

LAHORE:Federal Minister for Anti-Narcotics Ijaz Ahmad Shah said on Sunday
that establishment of Baba Guru Nanak University at Nankana Sahib would bring about an educational revolution in the region.
Addressing the central ceremony of 100-year celebrations of Sikh Religious festival Saka at Nanakana Sahib, he said the construction work of the university would soon be completed while vice-chancellor of the university had already been appointed.
He said that separate departments for Punjabi and Khalisapan would be made in the university, adding that no donation was being taken in the name of university from anyone and all funds would be spent by the Pakistan government. ....
