No plan to further tax salaried class, says Tarin Top Story May 24, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Ruling out the possibility of committing ‘manipulation’ for jacking up the GDP growth figures, Minister for Finance Shaukat Tarin has said the government would get the desired fiscal space from the IMF to avoid burdening masses more in the upcoming budget. “The IMF will allow us fiscal space to adopt the bottom-up approach as the government plans to shift benefits of inclusive growth to general masses instead of waiting for trickle-down effects,” the minister said while replying to a query whether the IMF will show a lenient attitude for the coming budget while addressing a virtual news briefing here on Sunday. ....

National May 24, 2021 LAHORE: Adviser to Prime Minister for Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood met Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar at the CM office on Sunday, and it was decided in principle that a state-of-the-art International Expo Centre would be set up in Punjab. The CM directed the departments concerned to take all necessary steps in that regard at the earliest. Matters of promotion of cooperative agricultural farming in Punjab came under discussion during the meeting. The meeting also reviewed a proposal about establishment of Plug & Play Centre in Multan for the stitching industry. The CM promised that incentives would be offered to cotton and other cash crop growers and Punjab would be turned into a model region for cotton production. Buzdar said that increase in cotton production would further develop the textile and other related industries. ....

Cleo Fields, D-Baton Rouge. “It is the most important one I have worked on during this session. It is something we must do for our children.” The committee debated whether or not the bill, Senate Bill 10, was necessary since it would only increase enrollment by about 2,800 students, or 4%. That would cost the state and its public schools about $8 million. ....
