County officials lifted the water boil order for all customers in Tillman County Rural Water District #1 as of Thursday afternoon.

TILLMAN COUNTY, Okla. (TNN) - Earlier this week Tillman County officials asked residents to conserve and boil their water due to a water shortage because of the water main break in the town of Frederick.
County officials lifted the water boil order for all customers in Tillman County Rural Water District #1 as of Thursday afternoon.
Customers can go back to using water as normal. ....

Second Amendment Sanctuary bill approved by committee

A bill to declare Oklahoma a Second Amendment Sanctuary state will head to the Senate.
District 7 State Sen. Warren Hamilton, R-McCurtain, authored Senate Bill 631 as âstate preemption of federal infringement of Second Amendment rights.â The Senate s Committee on Public Safety approved with a 9-2 vote to move the bill forward.
If the Senate votes to approve, the bill would immediately become law.
Hamilton represents Pittsburg, Latimer and Haskell counties, and portions of Hughes and Okfuskee counties â all of which are among 31 of Oklahomaâs 77 counties to file Second Amendment sanctuary resolutions.
The bill calls the U.S. Constitution the supreme law of the land and emphasizes unalienable rights in the Declaration of Independence, which is not a legally-binding document like the Constitution. ....

Rural Scholars program to help revitalize small communities

Some Oklahoma State University students will spend the summer in rural communities in southwest Oklahoma to look at improving health care, leadership development, rural housing and more.
Students to spend 10 weeks working with community leaders conducting research and providing assistance to the community.
Eleven Oklahoma State University students are preparing to lead community-engaged research in rural communities in Harmon and Tillman counties this summer, a key component of OSU’s Rural Renewal Initiative.
Following coursework this spring, those Rural Scholars will be set to conduct successful community-based research in areas such as rural health care, youth leadership development and rural housing. ....

FREDERICK, Okla. (TNN) - The town of Frederick is without water Friday after complications from a busted pipe earlier this week.
Frederick Fire Chief James Heap said the town’s main water line burst earlier this week, but this current problem actually came about once that was fixed.
“Once the water was on its way back to Frederick there was a rupture in the pump house. It flooded the pump house. We had some electric motors underwater. They are currently trying to make repairs to that rupture,” Peak said. ....
