Dr Kalemani launches REA Phase III, Round II in Northern Zone regions
MINERALS Minister Dr Medard Kalemani has officially launched Rural Energy Agency (REA) Phase III, Second Round for peri-urban villages in the Norhern Zone regions.
The launching was held at the weekend in Arusha Region in two districts – at Kiserian village in Engikageti Ward in Longodo District and at Terrati village in Arusha District.
The northern zone incorporates four regions of Kilimanjaro, Arusha, Tanga and Manyara.
Speaking at different times during the launching of the project, Dr Kalemani called residents to begin wiring in their homes ready for power connection while contractors were erecting transmission cables in their areas.

WaterAid project to benefit 28,000 residents in 5 villages
A TOTAL of 28,000 residents in Arumeru District, Arusha Region stand to benefit from water project involving five villages following its completion and handing over to the Arusha Urban Water and sanitation Authority (AUWSA).
The project has been implemented by WaterAid, an international organisation in collaboration with Arusha District Council under UK government sponsorship through its Foreign, Commonwealth and development office (FCDO).
Speaking at the event to hand over the project held at Olkokola Village in Lemanyata Ward in the district, Tanzania’s WaterAid managing director Anna Mzinga said until completion the project has cost more than 10bn/-.

DC Muro tells women to put more focus on business to prosper in life
ARUMERU District Commissioner, Jerry Muro has called on women to put more focus on their business undertakings if they are to prosper in life, hence contribute to the country’s socio-economic development.
DC Muro made the call here on Monday when he represented the Arusha Regional Commissioner, Idd Kimanta at the climax of International Women’s Day.
“The country’s development depends on you (women), so it’s high time for women to be committed in everything you do, taking into account that you’re taking the lead in the economy,” he told the gathering.
