SPM NEWS 4.8.21 - 4:04PM The Sioux Gateway Airport will receive $1,000,000 from the U.S. Department of Commerce to help build a local flight school. The $7,000,000 project includes hanger and office space and is expected to create 43 new skilled jobs. The aviation center will partner with area schools and colleges to provide education and training opportunities, including a fully accredited flight school. Construction is expected to start this year. The former location of Sears at the Southern Hills Mall will be transformed into a family entertainment center. The mall says Tilt Studio is expected to open next year and offer mini-bowling and golf, bumper cars, laser tag, video games and event rooms. Sears in Sioux City closed in March of 2019. ....

(WAFB) - The Edwards administration proposed a budget for fiscal year 2022 that would use federal coronavirus aid to avoid cuts and provide additional funds to K-12 and higher education. The $36.6 billion budget provides annual pay increases of $400 to K-12 public school teachers and $200 for K-12 support staff, a proposal that teachers unions immediately criticized as too small. Commissioner Jay Dardenne, told legislators that the budget also includes a $56 million increase in funding for the state’s higher education system, $19.8 million of which is intended for faculty pay raises. ....

Boise State News February 16, 2021 In early January, Guido Giuntini, a lecturer in the Department of Economics, presented the Universities General Fund Revenue Forecast for the fiscal years of 2021, 2022 and 2023 to the Idaho State Legislature Economic Outlook and Revenue Assessment Committee. The forecast was done in collaboration with Karl Gisler from Idaho State University and Steven Peterson from the University of Idaho. The committee uses the forecast to set up the budget for the upcoming legislative session. ....
