(TRAVPR.COM) 17th March, 2021 - The island nation of Sri Lanka is now open to tourists from all countries.
Sri Lanka Minister of Tourism Prasanna Ranatunga made the official announcement during a press conference on Thursday, confirming they would reopen the country s borders from January 21. Both of the country s international airports reopened on the same day.
The livelihood of around 3 million people depends on tourism in Sri Lanka, Ranatunga told media. It is our national responsibility to take into consideration the needs of our citizens that depend on this industry.
As part of efforts to prevent the spread of Covid-19, Sri Lanka created a bio bubble, which will give visitors a relative amount of freedom to travel within the country while still observing safety protocols. ....

At present there are three million people who are dependent on the tourism Industry in this country. Therefore, the Chamber of Tourism and Industry is seeking funding assistance.
Sri Lanka warmly welcomes visitors again to experience the paradise island. All travellers must apply for a visa online and download the Visit Sri Lanka app. A three-month visa will be then issued.
Anyone coming from abroad must stay in a government-approved Level 1 hotel for upto 14days of their stay. There are over 54 tourist hotels islandwide that have been certified and awarded the ‘Safe & Secure’ Certificate. Guests can enjoy the hotel facilities such as pools, gyms, salons and restaurants. ....

After a 10-month ban on overseas visitors, Sri Lanka is now accepting tourists from all countries except for the United Kingdom (a flight ban has been imposed to keep out a new variant of Covid-19). Kimarli Fernando, the Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, said in a statement, “As we open our doors to the world once again, we have pulled out all the stops, ensuring that every precautionary measure has been set in place to make the island getaway as safe, secure, and serene as possible for the visitors.” ....
