St. Landry Parish Assessor sworn in at courthouse

OPELOUSAS, La. — The new St. Landry Parish assessor, Sherri McGovern was sworn in Thursday afternoon during an inauguration ceremony at the St. Landry Parish Courthouse in Opelousas.
McGovern ran for the position in the election last fall, but does not take office until January 2021 because new assessors do not take office during a reassessment year, which happened in 2020.
According to her bio, McGovern is a lifelong resident of St. Landry Parish and has been a certified public accountant for 19 years.
She has also been employed at the St. Landry Parish Sheriff s Department for 13 years and served as the Chief Civil Deputy and the Chief Financial Officer. ....
