Paulding Council debates water bill, reinvestment area Melinda Krick Tuesday, May 11, 2021 3:13 PM PAULDING – A Paulding Village Council meeting Monday, May 3, included park district proposal and several lengthy, sometimes contentious, discussions on several issues. Aaron Timm, Gary Mabis and Glenn Troth, representing the Paulding County Park District, presented a proposed improvement to county-owned land along Flat Rock Creek upstream from the village sewage lagoons at Johnson Road. The site is across the creek from the old county home farm. Timm said the commissioner have given permission to turn the 15 acres into a park and trailhead. Possibly up to eight campsites may be developed. ....

Council authorizes Shelby Public Transit contracts By Sheryl Roadcap - [email protected] SIDNEY Shelby Public Transit contracts for federal and state grant funding and the Elderly and Disabled Fare Assistance Program were authorized Monday evening during Sidney City Council’s teleconference meeting. Details of the two resolutions pertaining to the Shelby Public Transit include the following: • The authorization of the annual application to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) for 2022 operating and capital grant funding, and also to authorize City Manager Mark Cundiff to execute a contract with ODOT upon the approval of the grant application. A federal operating grant of $475,270, and a state operating grant $115,000 is being requested. In capital spending, the total grant request is $237,500. This is for federal and state maintenance and two vehicle replacements. ....
LEETONIA The village’s small business grant program has been put on hold for now. Mayor Kevin Siembida this week reported the village’s small business grants, using approximately $9,000 in CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security) Act funds redistributed to the village last month, are still being determined after the deadline to use the CARES Act funds was extended. Siembida reported last month the village had received five applications for the grant, which is modeled after the one established by the Columbiana County commissioners. He said there is $1,600 that will be split evenly among the recipients, which will be presented to council for final approval. ....
[email protected] LEETONIA Council Wednesday night did not act on legislation for sewer and water rate increases after a previous proposal was removed from consideration. Mayor Kevin Siembida said he has amended the rate increase proposal presented earlier this month based on feedback from community members. Council previously authorized Village Solicitor Walter Newton to draft legislation raising the minimum sewer rate to $27.95 per month and set the usage rate at $3.97 for each 1,000 gallons over 1,000. The legislation would also have included a $2.50 service fee for each the sewer and water capital funds specifically for improvements to the water and sewer lines and system. ....
