CMS rated more than 4,500 hospitals from 1 to 5 stars as part of its annual overall quality scores, with fewer than 14% of all hospitals, and only 22 facilities in Pennsylvania, receiving five stars.

Some COVID-19 vaccine providers in Luzerne County had numerous appointment slots available Wednesday, but you wouldnât know it by checking the stateâs online provider map or most-recent vaccine distribution file.
Checking the state Department of Healthâs vaccine provider map against some local providersâ appointment websites showed that the departmentâs map doesnât always list providers that have appointments available, which could make it more difficult for people to schedule vaccinations quickly.
For example, Wilkes-Barre General Hospital had open appointment slots on its website for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and well into next week, and Albertâs Pharmacy in Pittston listed open appointment slots on its website for Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.
