Resident, family members praise staff at COVID-ridden AgeCare sites

Workers at two continuing-care sites operated by AgeCare are not to blame for devastating COVID-19 outbreaks, according to a resident at one facility and a man whose mother has lived in the other for five years.
Laura Rutherford lives at AgeCare Skypointe, where nearly 300 COVID-19 cases have now been detected. She requires care for Guillain-Barré syndrome, a rare neurological disorder, and is currently on the mend after testing positive for the novel coronavirus in late December.

A third Alberta health-care worker has died from COVID-19, Alberta Health reported Wednesday.
It marks the third consecutive day that Alberta has reported the death of a health-care worker from COVID-19. The worker reported dead on Wednesday worked in the Calgary zone. The person was not employed by Alberta Health Services, AHS said.

22 Albertans reported dead from COVID-19, 1,717 new cases added to provincial totals

CALGARY
The province has recorded the largest number of fatalities in a single day for the COVID-19 pandemic, with the Edmonton zone bearing the bulk of the tragic circumstances.
Alberta Health announced 22 people have died as a result of coronavirus in the province Sunday, pushing the total fatalities from the disease to 719.
It also reported 1,717 new infections.
The Calgary zone saw three new deaths:
A male in his 80s died Dec. 8, linked to the outbreak at the Bethany in Calgary (included comorbidities)
A female in her 80s died Dec. 9, linked to the outbreak at AgeCare Skypointe (included comorbidities)
A female in her 80s died Dec. 12, linked to the outrbreak at AgeCare Walden Heights (included comorbidities) ....
