County Commissioners deliver nearly flat budget for 2022
June 03, 2021HAVERHILL Despite COVID-related revenue losses and several challenging increases passed down from the State, the Grafton County Commissioners announced a nearly level-funded budget for 2022 during a public hearing last week.
The overall 2022 budget came to $48,672,519, reflecting a minor increase of 0.30 percent, or $145,209. from fiscal year 2021. Similarly, the amount to be raised by taxes increased by only 0.56 percent, or $151,826.
According to Grafton County Finance Manager Julie Libby, several cuts were made to deliver the relatively flat budget during a global pandemic. Two significant and unexpected expense increases came from the state retirement system and the County s contribution for long-term care expenses, she said.
