March 1 will mark the fifth anniversary of new ownership of Central Station Restaurant in Dunkirk. A fixture in downtown Dunkirk for over 25 years, Central Station Restaurant was purchased in 2016 by Robert Contiguglia and Kathleen Dennison, former owners of The White Inn in Fredonia. Their vision was to provide quality scratch cooking in a casual setting, and to preserve downtown Dunkirk, one sandwich at a time.
The restaurant has survived and even thrived in the COVID era. Since restaurants were deemed essential services, Central Station was never closed but dine-in service was suspended from March through June of 2020. This caused a 30% decline in revenues, but the restaurant was able to rely on its take-out and delivery options. Dine-in business has slowly returned, but is still somewhat limited, due to COVI ....

Rilling, Lamont, promote COVID-19 vaccinations

NORWALK, Conn. The Norwalk Health Department has vaccinated more than 2,700 Norwalk citizens against COVID-19, and none have had an adverse reaction, Norwalk Communications Manager Josh Morgan said Tuesday.
Mayor Harry Rilling became one of those citizens Tuesday, getting vaccinated the same day as Gov. Ned Lamont staged his own inoculation. While Lamont’s event was timed to convey Lamont’s confidence in the vaccine yet a willingness to wait his turn, Rilling, 73, said he became eligible last week when the State expanded phase 1b of its vaccination program to include individuals between the ages of 65 and 74. ....

Albany County officials discuss coronavirus pandemic small business grants


That brought the county death toll to 324 since pandemic tracking started last March. 
McCoy also announced 155 new positive cases. Encompassed within the new cases were 91 who did not have a present clear infection source, 13 healthcare workers or residents of congregate settings and who who traveled out of state. Albany County has 1,220 active cases. According to the Albany County Department of Health, there are 30 case in the city of Cohoes. Plus, there are 2,511 people under mandatory quarantine in the county.

Conversely, 174 cases have been cleared for recovery and release.  
The County Executive also noted 12 new hospitalizations overnight, and there are 126 county residents currently hospitalized from the virus. Additionally, 16 patients are in the ICU.   ....
