KARACHI: Favourite bay mare Sher Garh Queen returned to winning ways by clinching the Recharge Cup in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday. The victorious mare powered to a length-and-a-half victory over bay horse Choice of the Day to make amends of the last defeat where she was placed third. By virtue of victory, Sher Garh Queen presented her new owner-cum-trainer Naveed Baran with maiden triumph. She was piloted home by Waheed Baran. With three wins under her belt, mare Take Care had to be content with third place falling behind four-and-a-half lengths while debutant Saghir Prince completed the frame among seven horses.

KARACHI: A strong field of 13 horses have entered the fray in the Labour Day Cup which figures prominently in a five-race card drawn for the Gymkhana race meeting being held at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday. The Labour Day Cup has been classified under combined scale order of VI and VII and will be run over four furlongs. It is the fourth race in racing order. Half-a-dozen horses are in contention for the feature event scale order I, II and III that will also be contested over four furlongs. It is the last race on day’s card. Horses of lower classification who used to be among those who also ran will experience a new two-and-a-half furlong race for the first time. It has been designed to provide incentive to the owners.

KARACHI: Nine horses will vie for honours in the Summer Cup when it takes place in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Thursday. The Summer Cup is the third race in a four-event card that has been drawn for the races. It has been classified under scale order VIII and will be run over four furlongs. The weekly races have been brought forward to avoid clash with the Pakistan Derby that is scheduled to take place at Lahore on Sunday. The fourth and the last race is the feature event scale order III, IV and V and takes place over four-and-a-half furlongs.
