A teenager whose mother died with alcohol addiction earlier this year is spearheading a campaign for a new detox centre in Co Derry.
Community workers in the city have warned that high levels of addiction and mental health problems have worsened as a result of isolation caused during long periods of Covid-19 restrictions.
Tamzin White has launched a petition urging politicians at Stormont to deliver on a promise to fund a new dedicated addiction treatment centre.
The 18-year-old s mother, Louise, died aged 40 in January after years battling alcohol and drug addiction.

The teenage daughter of a woman who lost her life to her addiction to alcohol and drugs said a detox centre is essential for Londonderry.
Louise O Doherty White (40) battled for many years with her addiction to alcohol which later included drugs and had tried valiantly many times to get sober for the sake of her three beloved daughters, Tamzin (18), Farrah (10) and Lola-May (8).
Sadly Ms O Doherty White passed away on January 16 this year having never won that battle, but daughter Tamzin hopes a detox centre could become a reality in Derry so that others like her mother will be saved.
Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, Tamzin said: My mother was everything to me, she was my best friend, my rock, but above all else she was my mother and I would do anything to have her back. We were so incredibly close, we went everywhere together and I talked to her about everything that was going on in my life.
