Man charged with punching teenage Walmart employee after mask request

NORTH SMITHFIELD – Police have arrested a man for allegedly punching a teenage Walmart employee who asked him to put a mask on his toddler.
Michael Caro, 34, of Woonsocket has been charged with simple assault and battery and disorderly conduct. According to North Smithfield Police, Caro turned himself in after police learned his identity and contacted him.
Police said they responded to the Dowling Village Walmart on April 20 after reports a juvenile employee had been assaulted. According to police, the employee got into a confrontation with the suspect when he asked him to put a mask on his toddler. When the employee walked away to get a manager, the suspect allegedly put him in a choke hold and punched him. The employee did not seek medical treatment, but had a bruise and was in pain, according to police. ....

NORTH SMITHFIELD A local pair wanted on previous charges were arrested Tuesday after North Smithfield police learned that narcotics were being sold out of a room at the Traveler s Motor Lodge on Eddie Dowling Highway, police say.

Antonio Freitas and Laura Heinzmann were arrested outside a local Sunoco station on March 9 after Patrol Officer Justin Switzer spotted the two inside a vehicle in the parking lot, according to a media release from the North Smithfield Police Department. ....

On Dec. 22, at 12:24 a.m., Troopers arrested Tony Gomes, age 45, of 113 Clark Street, Apt. 2, New Bedford MA for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor/Drugs- 1st Offense â BAC Unknown. The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 95 in the Town of East Greenwich. The subject was transported to the State Police Headquarters, processed, arraigned before a Justice of the Peace and released to a responsible adult.
