WHEELING Hundreds of local families will be able to have a brighter Christmas this year as a result of the Bethlehem Apostolic Temple’s 30th annual Christmas basket giveaway.
According to the Rev. Darrell Cummings, senior pastor of the North Wheeling church, 943 people received groceries, clothes, toys and school supplies at the drive-through event held Saturday behind the North Wheeling Dream Center.
“We had over 200 cars that came through the line,” Cummings said, adding he was told the line of cars at one time extended along Main Street from the front of the Dream Center all the way to the car wash along River Road. “There were just lines and lines of cars. We had close to 200 kids come through to get toys.”
