PCCOA bringing joy to seniors

For more than a decade, the Preble County Council on Aging has prepared Christmas boxes for area senior citizens for the annual Christmas Basket Program. The 2020 deliveries were made last Thursday, Dec. 17.

WHEELING –Â Hundreds of local families will be able to have a brighter Christmas holiday this year as a result of the Bethlehem Temple’s 30th annual Christmas Basket giveaway, held this past Saturday.
According to the Rev. Darrell Cummings, senior pastor of the North Wheeling church, 943 people received groceries, clothes, toys and school supplies, as a result of the drive-through event held behind the North Wheeling Dream Center.

A global pandemic and a region being labeled a ‘Red Zone’ did not derail the Bishop’s University men’s basketball team from continuing a holiday tradition that spans back more than a decade.
The Gaiters raised $2,117 for the three high schools of the Eastern Townships School Board (ETSB), Alexander Galt, Richmond Regional and Massey Vanier, through an online Christmas Basket Campaign.
Led by former Galt Piper and current Bishop’s Gaiter James Murray (Stanstead, Que./Champlain-Lennoxville) and his teammates, the Gaiters ran a digital campaign to raise funds in lieu of their usual bagging groceries at Provigo Lennoxville. Provigo also collected donations on the Gaiters’ behalf for the first week of the month.
