The North Las Vegas Police Department asked the children of Andrea Hollingsworth, a Black woman who is deaf, to interpret for them as they arrested her.
Body camera footage released by the department and Hollingsworth’s own Facebook live of the incident has caused backlash as it shows officers involving the children in the arrest of their mother, Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
“Settle down, stop this,” one officer said to the two little girls crying in the back of the car, according to the body camera footage. “One of you guys needs to talk some sense into her. ....

The North Las Vegas Police Department released the footage Thursday, nearly two months after Andrea Hollingsworth was handcuffed in front of her 11-year-old twin daughters.
The body camera video provides a new perspective on the incident, which was also captured by Hollingsworth on Facebook Live. Hollingsworth s video, which now has more than 77,000 views, sparked backlash last month from the local chapters of the NAACP and ACLU and advocates from the deaf community. ....

NORTH LAS VEGAS (KTNV) â The North Las Vegas Police Department says it is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened overnight Monday.
Officers were called to the area of North Las Vegas Boulevard and Belmont Street at about 1 a.m. to a bus stop where a vehicle had struck a man.
North Las Vegas police report their preliminary investigation indicated a vehicle was traveling northbound on North Las Vegas Boulevard and hit the man at the bus stop, with the driver failing to stop at the scene.
Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the man, believed to be in his 40s, deceased, according to the NLVPD. ....

More than a dozen men accused of targeting children for sex crimes were arrested in the Las Vegas metro area this week as part of an undercover operation, authorities said Friday.
The 14 suspects engaged in inappropriate conversations with agents posing as juveniles on the internet and tried to set up sexual encounters with them, according to police.
The accused predators, whose ages ranged from 24 to 50, were taken into custody after showing up at a location where they allegedly planned to sexually abuse a minor, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a news release. ....
