JRFD Called to Camper & House Fire Tuesday Morning

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Rural Fire Department was paged out to a camper fire that spread to a home in rural Jamestown Tuesday morning.
Fire Chief Brian Paulson says the call came in a little after 8:30 AM to 315 38th Street NW Jamestown. Paulson reports a camper was on fire next to an attached garage of a ranch style home. First units arrived on scene just after 8:50, where the fire spread to the garage of the home and was advancing through the home’s attic space and kitchen.
“Our crews made a quick knock down of the fire and began an extensive overhaul operation to ensure we had the fire fully contained,” Chief Paulson stated. “The camper, vehicle in the garage, garage, as well as other contents in and around the garage are a total loss. The kitchen area did receive structural fire & water damage.” ....

Man dies in camper fire at New Town mobile home court

NEW TOWN, N.D. (AP) Authorities say one man was killed in a camper fire Monday at a mobile home court in New Town.
Officials received a report about 5:11 p.m. Monday of man locked inside a 20-foot camper, which was fully engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived on scene.
The blaze was extinguished in 20 minutes, after which time crews found the man’s body, KXMC-TV reported. The victim has not been identified.
The North Dakota Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the blaze. ....

UPDATE: (January 17, 6:30 p.m.): In a press release, the Lemmon Fire Department confirmed that as of 5:27 p.m. Sunday, January 17, the Lemmon fire is now at 100% containment. An estimated 15,000 – 20,000 acres are estimated to be burned. No fatalities were reported, however two firefighters were injured and treated.
“The results of this fire could have been drastically different, but due to the training of local fire departments, assistance of other agencies and individuals, and the experience and leadership of the Incident Commander, the loss of property – while devastating – was contained to a minimum considering the circumstances. The amount of support has been simply overwhelming, as calls to assist have been received all over North and South Dakota. The Department thanks everyone that has stepped up to help in so many ways. We continue to think about and pray for those directly impacted by this horrible fire. Thank you on ....
