OGDEN It ll be a different season for the Ogden Raptors for many reasons this year after last season was canceled due to COVID-19.
Gone are the Los Angeles Dodgers affiliation and its place in the Minor League Baseball pipeline, and gone now are extra-inning contests at Lindquist Field.
The Pioneer Baseball League announced a handful of interesting new rules coming to the league this season; among them, abandoning extra-inning affairs and replacing it with knock out, which can best be described as a sudden death home run derby between teams until a winner is crowned that evening.
League officials said the move was made to avoid any excessive strain on Pioneer League teams pitching staffs.

CLEVELAND, Ohio Thirty Major League teams head to spring training this week in Arizona and Florida. The managers and front-office executives in charge of those teams have one goal somehow, some way get to opening day on April 1 while the coronavirus swirls around them.
That is the foremost thing on their minds, but there is something nudging the rear bumper on all those thoughts: What about the minor leagues? What is going to happen to the talent stream of so many organizations if another season is gored by the virus?
We re getting a minor league baseball team and they ll be playing at the Future Legends Sports Complex in Windsor.but not until 2022.
In an emailed press release from the sports complex, the Northern Colorado Owlz (who are relocating here from Orem, Utah) will begin their journey here in 2022 to ensure a safe and exciting launch for minor league baseball in this area. I mean, who wants to start off a new season with a new team in a new town with very few if any people in the stands?!?
With all of the Covid stuff still in question, everyone just wants to make sure we can start the inaugural season here in Windsor with a fully packed house with lots of excitement already for this team.
Northern Colorado FC set to join USL League One in 2022

Windsor, Colorado will be joining the professional soccer scene. United Soccer League One, the third tier in the US soccer pyramid below MLS and the USL Championship, announced today that Northern Colorado FC will be joining the league.
They are expecting to start play in time for the 2022 season. The team is majority-owned by the Katofsky family who are also known for the former Orem Owlz, now the Northern Colorado Owlz in Minor League Baseball. The Katofsky family also are co-owners of the Future Legends Sports Complex, which is where NoCoFC will be playing.
