The feel of Christmas…on social media

Singer Suzi Croner (Fluckiger), of Friends the band fame, says she now spends most of her lockdown time, working on Christmas carols, some of which she has already posted on her Facebook page.
“I do have lots of free time, at the moment, as all of us, in Switzerland, are literally, confined to the four walls of our home, due to the Coronavirus pandemic,” says Suzi.
And, it’s this free time that has galvanised Suzi into action – working on Christmas material…to give all of us that Christmas feel.
She say she has already completed the recordings, and the homemade videos, as well, for the songs. ....

In 1934 the State Council of Ceylon decided that an airport with easy access to Colombo was a necessity and declared that Ratmalana was the best site available. Accordingly an airfield was built and the first landing took place on 27 November 1935. This was Ceylon’s first Airfield. With the advent of WW II, the airport expanded and a runway was also built. The Royal Air Force (RAF) and the Fleet Air Arm used it.
To assist aircraft landing in bad weather and resulting bad visibility, a transmitter was built at Thalangama to generate a Radio Signal Beam directed along the extended centre line of the runway at Ratmalana. If the aircraft was tracking the correct path, the pilots would hear a continuous tone on their head sets. However if they were left of the desired track, the pilots would hear a letter ‘A’ in Morse code (dit dah) or if right, a letter ‘N’ which was a (dah dit) in Mo ....

A good rollup of 12 Foot Skiffs faced that starter at the Sydney Flying Squadron & Lane Cove 12ft Sailing Skiff Club over consecutive weekends in early December.
19 boats entered the series with six races in conditions from a light North Easterly on the first day to a fresh Westerly on day two and a moderate Easterly for the closing weekend. A great test of the 12 s top 3 rigs.
The racing was close over a combination of long and short courses.
Sail Inc sailed by Nick Press & Andrew Hay dominated the series, winning all 6 races, the majority comfortably but also showing their class to fight back on a couple of occasions. ....

Today is perfect, commented Markus Schwendtner, Class Manager of the IKA, as the riders launched their 11m kites into the warm trade winds as they head out for a day of epic racing here at the stunning location of Playa de las Burras in Gran Canaria, Spain. Winds were between 18-23 knots from the same direction as yesterday, the reliable gradient breeze blowing in from the North East.
The first race of the day, Race 4 overall, got under way at 1153 with a clear start, all on starboard. At the top mark, it was Maxime Nocher (FRA) who was in the lead, followed by two Flysurfer kites, Theo de Ramecourt (FRA) and Guy Bridge (GBR). On the downwind, the delta between first and second was slashed, with Theo following Maxime around the right hand-bottom mark close enough to see the hairs raised on the back of Maxime s neck as the riders all headed back towards the beach, which w ....
