ST. FRANCIS COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) - After months of fighting, the Pine Tree Research Station land will stay open to the public.
HB1694 passed the Senate 31-3 this week, and heads to Gov. Asa Hutchinson’s desk to be signed into law.
From there, it will take immediate effect, preventing the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture from selling the Pine Tree land to a private entity or individual. ....

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Just months after the start of a new school year, several Northeast Arkansas school districts have begun reporting positive COVID-19 cases among their students and faculty.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KAIT) - A new bill in the Arkansas Legislature looks to prevent the senior population of Arkansas from being scammed.
Filed by Rep. Carlton Wing (R-North Little Rock) and State Sen. Jonathan Dismang (R-Beebe), HB1391 would allow financial institutions to report potential exploitation cases to the Attorney General’s office.
The bill could put a freeze on account transactions while being investigated. ....

Jonesboro VA clinic offering Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine

Veterans in Northeast Arkansas will get a chance to get their COVID-19 shot on Thursday with an event in Jonesboro.
The Veteran s Affairs Center in Memphis posted on Facebook that they will be helping to administer the singe-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine at the VA Clinic in Jonesboro.
The event begins at 8 A.M. Those wanting the vaccine must schedule an appointment by calling the clinic at 870-277-0778.
Meanwhile, the Arkansas Department of Health s website says the East Arkansas Family Health Center in West Memphis is also having a vaccination clinic from 9 A.M. until 2 P.M.
Appointments must be made by calling the center at 870-735-3842. ....
