The location for the new fire hall in the city’s north end has been chosen. At a General Committee meeting last night, councillors voted to put the facility at the Northcrest Arena site. A final vote on the matter will happen at a meeting of City Council later this month. The Northcrest site won out over the other property considered, Sunset Park at Sunset Boulevard and Chemong Road. The city wants to hear from you about the relocation of Fire Station 2. Two sites are currently being considered for the new location of Fire Station 2. The first, known as Sunset, is at 916 Chemong Road next to the Walmart. The second site would be at 100 Marina Boulevard, which is where Northcrest Arena is located. Both locations ranked highly in the original study, which had things like response times in mind.
