Local care homes meet vaccination deadline

RESIDENTS at Spellman Care Homes, a family-run business operating four care homes in the local area, have now all been offered the vaccination for Covid-19. Local GP’s visited the homes to offer vaccinations to both residents and staff, through December and early January. Each of the homes in the group – Steeton Court Nursing Home in Steeton, Springbank Care Home in Silsden, Ghyll Royd Nursing Home in Guiseley, and Craven Nursing Home in Skipton – are proud to have been offered the vaccine in advance of the government deadline of the end of January. Director Steven Spellman said “It is a huge relief that our residents and staff are now vaccinated against Covid-19. After a very tough 2020, it feels like the end of the pandemic is in sight and we are grateful to the local GP’s who have supported us through this difficult time.”

Authentic feel to Nativity for Kildwick pupils: PHOTOS

A SCHOOL staged its Nativity in a real barn after being forced to rethink the traditional presentation due to Covid-19 restrictions. Kildwick CE Primary pupils were surrounded by real-life sheep as they performed on a farm belonging to a pupil’s family. The production, involving 60 reception and key stage one children, was filmed by a professional crew so it could be streamed online to families before Christmas. One of the camera operators was lifted into the air on a cherry picker to capture footage of the youngsters as they enacted the story of Jesus in the stable. There was enough space in the barn for each class to be socially distanced as they sang songs between the traditional scenes of angels, shepherds and kings visiting the newborn babe.
