A power upper-level low that moved through Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas Wednesday morning with severe thunderstorm watches and warnings for damaging winds and hail is now pushing east, taking the severe weather threat with it. The upper-level low, along with warm and moist air streaming ahead of it, will bring all modes of severe weather to the Deep South. City and utility companies prepare for downed power lines and damage from severe weather City of Memphis severe weather briefing 3/17/2021 By WMC Action News 5 Staff | March 17, 2021 at 10:59 AM CDT - Updated March 17 at 12:49 PM Robert Knecht, Public Works director, says the City of Memphis is focusing on drain maintenance early in the day to prevent major street flooding. So far, he says, only minor street flooding has been reported. The city asks residents to report street flooding by calling 311 or the Office of Emergency Management after hours at (901) 222-6700. Knecht says they’re also preparing to respond to downed tree calls. ....
