Police are calling for witnesses to a truck collision in Malmsbury last week. Investigators have been told a white semi-trailer was travelling northbound on the Calder Freeway when it veered from the road and struck a safety barrier and concrete pillar at the Spring Creek Bridge just before 5.30am on Wednesday, January 13. The truck rig then plunged off the bridge between the north and southbound lanes, crushing the cabin. The 36-year-old male driver was trapped in the vehicle for more than two hours before being freed and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators wish to speak to anyone who saw the crash or the truck prior to the crash. ....

A 36-year-old male truck driver plunged more than 20 metres off a bridge in Malmsbury yesterday morning. A semi-trailer was travelling north on the Calder Freeway when it veered from the road and struck a safety barrier and concrete pillar at the Spring Creek Bridge about 5.20am. The truck rig plunged off the bridge, crushing the cabin and trapping the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle for more than two hours before being freed. The man was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. ....
