A grant and donations allowed work to take place to properly restore about a 50-foot section of the bricks in the east wall at the Gen. Lew Wallace Study & Museum.
Luckily the repairs were a success and the downtown fountain is now back to former glory open for all to see and admire.The Paper photo by Aly Bledsoe

As part of their Earth Day celebration, the Junior Leaders spent that Monday evening picking up trash throughout downtown Crawfordsville.

After the murder conviction of former policeman Derek Chauvin for the death of George Floyd, tensions rose again when a black teen was shot and killed in Ohio. Video shows the teen with a knife raised over her head apparently in preparation to stab another black female. A Columbus Police Officer shot her before she did. NBA Star LeBron James sent a photo of the police officer to his 49.6 million followers on Twitter with the words YOU RE NEXT #ACCOUNTABILITY and an hourglass. The tweet was taken down later. Did James cross the line with the tweet, or was it justified? ....

The Park Day 2021 event is over for another year at the interesting Gen. Lew Wallace Study & Museum. This year, volunteers turned out and worked hard to help Grounds Manager Deb King with several projects around the property. The staff and patrons are very appreciative to everyone who turned out! According to staff, there has definitely been an uptick in travelers at the museum. Staff still requests that people book tours ahead whenever possible, and they strongly recommend visitors wear masks insi ....

General Lew s Book Club invites Ray Boomhower

The Hoosier Authors Book Club continues its sixth year with a special virtual meeting. The General Lew Wallace Study & Museum’s book club invite Hoosier author Ray E. Boomhower to visit Crawfordsville virtually. The discussion will be held online at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, via a Zoom discussion. Books are currently available for checkout at the Carriage House.
The book for this meeting is Boomhower’s Fighting For Equality: A Life of May Wright Sewall. It was originally chosen in 2020 as a tie in to the Study’s “Suffrage & Sovereignty” exhibit, but the discussion was postponed by COVID-19. The discussion was rescheduled for March 2021 to celebrate Women’s History Month. ....
