PUBLISHING and education giant Pearson is to vacate its extensive office headquarters in Belfast city centre in favour of flexible workspace. The former owner of the Financial Times officially opened a finance services centre in Belfast in 2017, in a move it said could eventually lead to the creation of 300 jobs. The Invest NI-backed project saw the company sign up for just under 16,000 sq ft on the first floor of Millennium House next to the Europa on Great Victoria Street. ....

The Northern Ireland network carried 15 million passengers in 2018, with growth having hit 130 per cent over a 12-year period. Trains and stations were becoming increasingly crowded and investment was needed. Tim Casterton reports on how operator Translink has tackled the constraints on its stations. During the five years prior to the COVID-19 pandemic hitting the world economy, the number of passengers using Translink’s Northern Ireland Railway (NIR) service had been increasing dramatically. This is down to several reasons, including increased traffic congestion in Belfast, new trains and improved rail timetables. ....
Leanne Baxter, from Antrim Road in the city, admitted a wounding charge at Belfast Crown Court. Branding Baxter as the prime mover in the attack, Judge Stephen Fowler QC said the incident justified a custodial sentence. The 35-year-old and two younger women were arrested after the injured party was assaulted and stabbed in her home and again in the street as she tried to flee. Police were alerted to the attack in Bendigo Street at around 11pm on October 25, 2019, and when they arrived they found the victim. A blood-stained knife was discovered and the injured woman named her attackers as Baxter and two others. The trio were arrested a short time later at Lanyon Place, where Baxter discarded the victim s phone in bushes. ....
