Husband also charged in plot to kill wife's ex

A Wilburton man was charged in a plot to kill his wife s ex-husband after he admitted to obtaining a weapon to be used in the deed, according to court documents.
Dustin Keith Deatherage, 24, was charged Friday with solicitation for murder in the first degree, according to court documents filed Friday in Latimer County District Court.
Deatherage’s wife, 25-year-old Courtney Deatherage, was charged Thursday in connection to the alleged murder-for-hire plot.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents spoke with a man who travelled from Texas who said Courtney Deatherage wanted him to kill her ex-husband for a total of $500. ....

Latimer County judge rules county located in 'Indian Country'

A Latimer County judge ruled that the reservation status of the Choctaw Nation was never disestablished by Congress.
“It appears that at one time Congress considered or anticipated the disestablishment of the Indian nations and some steps were taken forward that goal through the granting of allotments and possible other measures,” District 16 Associate District Judge Bill Welch wrote in his ruling. “But steps in the direction of disestablishment fall short of clear language by Congress disestablishing the Choctaw Nation.”
Welch made his ruling less than two weeks after a November evidentiary hearing that was ordered by the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals in the case against 79-year-old Keith Elmo Davis. ....
