“Australia’s pledge of up to 1 million doses of AstraZeneca means there will be enough safe and effective vaccine doses to ensure the entire Solomon Islands population over 18 can get vaccinated. This consignment of 50,000 doses is the first of many more batches on their way from CSL in Melbourne,” Dr Strahan said.

The Solomon Island Government’s (SIG) information communication technology (ICT) services will be more secure and efficient for users thanks to installation of a full IT Service Management System and upgrades to the Service Monitoring Centre, both funded by the Australian Government.
The two projects are part of a package of eight ICT projects supported by Australia totaling approximately SBD $8.9 million. ....

Solomon Islands Women’s Premier League set to kick goals with Australian gear Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) is the first federation in the Pacific to receive a sporting grant through Australia’s PacificAus Sports Program.
Under the grant, Australia will equip all 10 teams in the SolRais Women’s Premier League with training and playing gear such as shin pads, balls, goal nets, boots and socks. Sporting teams need to be supported off the field as well. The grant will provide laptops, a projector and a screen to help team ....

The Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development (MEHRD) has commenced its 2021 training program to ensure all teachers in Solomon Islands are qualified.
Over the next 12 months, the University of the South Pacific (USP) and Solomon Islands National University (SINU) will deliver certificate and diploma-level qualification programs to upskill 554 teachers - 352 from primary schools and 229 from secondary schools across Solomon Islands. Since 2015, with support from Australia and New Zealand, approximately 700 teachers across Makira-Ulawa, Choiseul, Western, Guadalcanal and Temotu have been qualified. ....
