Pentucket Players Presents Comedy-Drama 'Mass Appeal' April 30 and May 1 and 2

Pentucket Players returns to in-person productions with its presentation of “Mass Appeal” April 30 and May 1 and 2 at Haverhill City Hall auditorium.
“Mass Appeal,” a comedy-drama written by Bill C. Davis, is the first live, fully staged production since the pandemic hit. It is directed by John R. Buzzell of Haverhill, and features, veteran actor Les Tarmy in the role of Fr. Tim Farley and, in alternating performances, Ben Fuller and Jonathan Touchette as Mark Dolson, the brash young seminarian. In addition to live staging, the production will be available for streaming. While Massachusetts has entered Phase Four of its reopening plan, the audience is required to socially distance and wear mas ....

Council Endorses Haverhill Library Plan to Erect Book Panels on Dempsey Boardwalk

Haverhill residents and visitors will be able to enjoy a leisurely stroll along the Rep. Brian S. Dempsey Boardwalk this summer while, at the same time, reading a good book.
The City Council approved last week a request by the Haverhill Public Library to post a series of panels along the railings downtown between Haverhill Heights and the Landmark Building beginning later this spring. Chance Lee Joyner, of the library explained the idea. ....

It was the last thing Al Braccolino, 90, of Crown Point, told one of his daughters as paramedics loaded him into an ambulance Nov. 16. COVID-19 forced him into the final fight of his life.
Ten days later, the chair Al usually occupied at the Thanksgiving table would sit empty. The husband to his wife of 70 years, father of three and grandfather of six died on the holiday.
Al’s daughter, Sandra Noe, was herself suffering from COVID-19, which she contracted while caring for her sick parents, when the virus forced Al’s hospitalization.
Noe, 66, is no stranger to helping elderly shut-ins weather isolation. ....

One person was injured late Wednesday in a fire at a multi-family home in Lowell.The fire started just after 10 p.m. on Varnum Street.The victim is being treated for burn injuries, officials said.The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
