ALJA Calls for Musa Dean's Resignation | Liberian Observer

Justice Minister, Cllr. F. Musa Dean
The Association of Liberian Journalists in the Americas (ALJA) says it has lost trust and confidence in the ability of Justice Minister Musa Dean to effectively serve as Attorney General of Liberia.
ALJA says Minister Dean’s recent inconsistent positions taken in the ongoing certification crisis involving Lofa County Senator-elect, Brownie Samukai and the National Elections Commission (NEC), has drawn his credibility and that of the Justice Ministry into question.
In a press release issued on March 16, 2021, ALJA said the Minister’s inability to take a definitive position in a legal matter that has the propensity of derailing the prevailing peace and stability in Liberia, has made his continued stay at the Justice Ministry irrelevant. ....

'Executive Dominating Everything' | Liberian Observer

Cllr. Findley Karnga on the delay in Senator-elect Samukai’s certification
A Liberian lawyer, Cllr. Findley Karnga, has blamed the Executive Branch of Government for influencing the National Election Commission’s decision to delay the certification of Brownie Samukai, Senator-elect of Lofa County. He is basically pointing accusing fingers at the Minitry of Justice’s action led by the Justice Minister, Cllr. Frank Musah Dean, and Solicitor General Syrenius Cephus, to write the NEC ordering it to halt to certification of Mr. Samukai.
Cllr. Karnga, who is a legal counselor for the Collaboration Political Parties (CPP), said legally, Samukai should be certificated but, because of the interest in Lofa County, the Executive is doing everything in its power to pull the Senator-elect down. ....

Samukai's Political Woes Deepen | Liberian Observer

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha !
Lets look at the crucial clause in section 51.1 and read with understanding which states,…who has been judicially declared to be incompetent or of unsound mind or who has been barred from voting as a result of his/her convictions and imprisonment for an infamous crime …blah blah, blah. And not because the person is a convict, but has been barred Judicially.
Samukai is of sound mind. He has supposedly all his marbles correct. Then the next question in the section of 51.1 is, has he been barred by any court or courts because of his conviction and imprisonment ? Has he been barred ? NO. ....
