HAMMOND â The Hammond Education Fund awarded $17,000 in college scholarships to 17 graduates of the School City of Hammond. According to a news release from the Hammond Education Fund, seven of the students were from Morton High School, four were from Clark High School, three were from Gavit High School and the other three from Hammond High. Each student received between $500 and $2,500 for post-secondary education. Shardai Holmes, a Hammond High graduate, received $2,500 for the Biel Scholarship, which is given anonymously in memory of Hammond High teacher and administrator, Mark Biel. Holmes will attend Tuskegee University to study nursing. Go on patrol with Aaron Crawford, a Cpl. with the Lowell Police Department, as he speaks about joining the force, DUI enforcement grants, and police Jiu-jitsu training. ....
Augustana, USF Top Ten Preseason Picks While both Augustana University Vikings men s and women s Track & Field teams have been picked to finish second in the 2020-21 NSIC Preseason Indoor Track & Field Coaches Polls, two of the Vikings have been chosen as preseason Athletes of the Year. According to Augustana, Elizabeth Schaefer and Tyl Woelber were picked in the poll. Schmidt earned USTFCCCA All-Central Region honors in the 3,000 and 5,000 meter runs. At the NSIC Indoor Championships last season, she claimed runner-up finishes in both events. Woelber returns as the High Point Performer from last year s NSIC Championships where he totaled 34 points while winning the heptathlon and placing second in the triple and long jumps. ....
