Conversation begins on county land use code


The Teton County Planning and Zoning Commission took its first step in the process of updating the county land development code by hearing four hours of mostly negative public comment about the draft code on May 18. 
The Teton High School auditorium, which holds 750 people, was around a third full, and another hundred or so spectators participated via Zoom. Untold more attempted to listen to the audio streamed on the county website, but the hybrid nature of the meeting and equipment challenges made it difficult to understand the proceedings.  
The land development code is a legal framework that governs all future land use proposals in the county (not within the cities) according to the county s comprehensive plan. A steering committee composed of a county commissioner, two former P&Z commissioners, and planning staff has been working for almost two years with consulting firm Logan Simpson to rewrite the existing code, which is decades old.  ....

Tuesday's code meeting moved to high school auditorium


Due to a significant amount of public interest, the first public hearing for the new Teton County Land Development Code on May 18 has been moved from the courthouse to the Teton High School auditorium in Driggs to accommodate all attendees. 
The land development code is a legal framework that governs all future land use proposals in the county (not within the cities) according to the county s comprehensive plan. A steering committee composed of a county commissioner, two former P&Z commissioners, and planning staff has been working for almost two years with consulting firm Logan Simpson to rewrite the existing code, which is decades old. WELLINGTON, Colo. Wellington s Comprehensive Plan, currently under review, is accepting public comment to help town leaders prepare for the town s projected growth. 
Wellington is a small Colorado town located about 69 driving miles north of Denver. 
The public comment period is set to end April 11.
