10 Black Fungus Cases Reported in Afghanistan
The Afghanistan Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Wednesday said that the total number of black fungus cases in the country is now up to 10.
The health ministry said that the new cases of black fungus were reported from at least 5 provinces and all involved patients with COVID-19.
“Facemasks and oxygen provide a wet environment for black fungus, it is good if the masks are changed daily among the patients,” said health expert Hashmat Faizi.
“It can be found in the soil . and in the air, those who work in the fields can be infected with this virus,” said Lais Mustafa, the head of the anti-COVID department at the Ministry of Public Health.

The Ministry of Public Health on Thursday said that COVID-19 cases are once again on the rise in the country and that at least 11 people have been infected with the coronavirus variant in the last few weeks.
The number of those infected with the coronavirus variant was 7 a few days ago, but it has climbed to 11 and at the end of this week.
“At least 17 samples were tested. The samples were from Logar, Nangarhar and Sarubi (district in Kabul). 11 of them tested positive for the coronavirus variant,” said Lais Mustafa, head of communication office of the Ministry of Public Health.
