Betty appoints joint creative directors

Betty appoints joint creative directors All3Media-owned UK prodco Betty has hired Helen Cooke from rival Crackit and promoted David Harrison to be its joint creative directors. Helen Cooke Harrison has been upped from head of factual and formats and will be joined by Cooke in April. The pair replace Alex Menzies, who left the business in November. Cooke is joining from Crackit, where she is head of non-scripted. She previously spent two years at Studio Ramsay as head of popular factual, where her credits included celebrity documentary format Born Famous and The Fantastical Factory of Curious Craft, both for Channel 4, plus fixed-rig show The Savoy and Gordon, Gino & Fred: Roadtrip, both for ITV.

Year of the Rabbit cancelled by Channel 4 in u-turn

Channel 4 has axed comedy series The show, which is set in Victorian-era London and stars Matt Berry, Freddie Fox and Susan Wokoma, was renewed last year following its debut in 2019. However, due to content cuts as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the broadcaster has now made the difficult decision to cancel the show (via Ben MeadowsChannel 4 We re hugely proud of this hilarious and fearless comedy series, but as result of the impact of COVID on our schedules we have made the difficult decision not to enter into a second series with a heavy heart, a spokesperson for Channel 4 said.
