Orchid lovers in Alberta are gearing up for prime time in a spot where more than half the province's species bloom in June. But that’s just one of the attractions to a little known protected area free to explore west of Edmonton.
Craven students perform in Parrott Holiday Concert
By Vicki Kennedy
On Dec. 4, ten Craven County students performed in Parrott Academy’s annual Holiday Concert. This year, the traditional all-school assembly was replaced by three concerts for smaller groups of the school’s youngest classes to provide for social distancing. Both performers and the audience were masked.
Musical selections by the chorus included a rendition of “The Little Drummer Boy” featuring boomwhacker percussion sticks and a narration of “The Night Before Christmas” with sound effects by the school orchestra. Theatre teacher Amy Calhoun portrayed The Grinch as the orchestra played “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.” The chorus included Carolista Walsh, and the orchestra included Hannah Henderson, Tien Le, Graham Allen, Sasha Kats, Eliza Manning, Landon Nelson, and Millie Kate Wilson.
