The inspiration of Nancy Drew
The Daily Telegram
Nancy Drew, the intrepid teenage detective, came on the scene in the 1930’s when opportunities for girls were limited. She was able to do anything she set her mind to.
Growing up in the 1950’s, Nancy was a role model as well an inspiration. These books were a way to escape the mundane life of school and chores. At some point I decided to read all the Nancy Drew books, around 50 published back then. The library had a limited amount but I would faithfully visit weekly to see if any new ones had come in. Her books were treasured birthday presents.

Skaneateles, N.Y. A Central New York resident has a new movie in the works 5,000 miles away, and the journey from script to screen is somehow even longer.
Zack Ford, 38, of Skaneateles, wrote the screenplay for an upcoming horror flick called “The Watcher.” The film centers on a young couple who moves into a new apartment, and the woman suspects someone is watching them through his window across the street and may be a serial killer called the Headhunter.
Award-winning filmmaker Chloe Okuno is set to make her feature-length directorial debut with the project, which is currently scouting locations in the country of Romania. Producers include Roy Lee (Stephen King’s “It”), Mason Novick (”Juno”) and Steven Schneider (”Paranormal Activity”).
