Lilian Umurungi-Jung created nut butter brand Mumgry after struggling to find healthy snacks during her pregnancy. There’s just the good stuff in this all-natural, low-in-sugar peanut butter that even garnered Beyoncé’s seal of approval: the former Destiny’s Child member included Mumgry on her list of Black-owned businesses last summer. Mumgry offers three flavours: peanut butter, peanut butter with chocolate, and the decadent chocolate pistachio almond.
Its owner Karlene, who goes by her first name on the store’s website, describes herself as a Métis mom of two who started the venture after her dresses became popular. Her bestsellers include the “Legend” design, a reversible mask featuring loons and fish, and flower-patterned masks.
