Mar. 24 and 26, 2022: Delfs conducts Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5, “Emperor” (with soloist Jorge Osorio) and Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5, alongside “Something for the Dark” by Sarah Kirkland Snider. Douglas Sheldon, better known simply as Doug, left Columbia Artists as it chairman and just over three months since that onetime behemoth of a classical music agency subsequently went belly up. Now Sheldon is back, as the managing partner of Sheldon Artists, LLC, and managing many of the artists he worked with during his five decades at CAMI. Leading the conductor roster is Valery Gergiev, along with the Mariinsky Theater, of which Gergiev is artistic and general director. At the top of the violinists list is the previously announced Anne-Sophie Mutter, as well as rising young Dutch violinist Simone Lamsma. ....
