Winter snowstorm headed to eastern Idaho Wednesday Updated at Share This IDAHO FALLS – A winter storm is headed towards eastern Idaho Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service in Pocatello is forecasting “wet and heavy snow for at least 48 hours.” The areas of impact extend from Stanley and Ketchum to Jackson and from West Yellowstone to Twin Falls and Montpelier. The areas of Blackfoot and Pocatello are not included. The Central Idaho Mountains in Blaine, Butte, Camas, Custer, and Lemhi Counties are expected to get the heaviest snowfall from Wednesday morning to Thursday night. SBA loans available to drought-impacted counties SACRAMENTO, Ca. (KIFI)-The Small Business Administration has announced that seven Idaho counties have qualified for working capital loans due to drought conditions last year. SBA Field Operations Center Director Tanya N. Garfield said non-farm businesses dependent on farmers and ranchers in Butte County and neighboring Bingham, Blaine, Clark, Custer, Jefferson, and Lemhi Counties have until February 16, 2021 to apply for an SBA federal disaster loan for economic injury. The loans are intended to offset losses caused by reduced revenues due to drought in Butte County that began April 15, 2020. According to Garfield, small nonfarm businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and most private nonprofit organizations of any size may apply for Economic Injury Disaster Loans of up to $2 million to help meet working capital needs caused by the disaster. “Economic Injury Disast ....
Hospital board hears COVID-19 updates IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI)-Regional hospitals report the number of new COVID-19 cases is improving slightly, despite fears of a surge of disease after the holidays. Eastern Idaho Public Health officials speculate there may be several possible reasons for the improvement. First, they suspect the general public recognized the threat of the virus on hospitals and did their best to avoid spread of the disease. Officials also point out that at least 10% of the local population has already been exposed, lowering new case numbers.
