War memorial damaged as buses keep mounting the pavement

Councillor Elizabeth Harvey, who represents the Ledbury North ward on Herefordshire Council, said: There is a myriad of rules to do with putting things adjacent to the highway which impacts on whether can get bollards or something like that put between the war memorial and the kerb.
Just because there s not a lot of spaces, that s why the memorial seems to be being damaged.
It s frustrating that it seems to be getting more damage now that is has previously.
I don t know what the problem is; whether there are new buses and they ve got bigger overhangs at the front and back or whatever, but it s certainly an issue. ....

Road to close for emergency repairs to Ledbury market house

EMERGENCY repairs are needed to Ledbury s 353-year-old Market House after storms caused damaged to the building.
Ledbury Town Council said some plaster had fallen from the building, completed in 1668, after storms on December 26.
The area had been cordoned off for safety, with a cherry picker being used for workers to repair the building tomorrow (Thursday).
Bruce Evans, engineering manager at Herefordshire Council, said Church Street outside the Market House would be closed for up to five days while repairs were made, but work should be finished in one day.
The said closure is required due to urgent repair works being carried out to the Market House on or near the said road, and the likelihood of danger to the public while the works are taking place, he said. ....

Ledbury Town Council supported the new door in the old library on two separate occasions

LEDBURY Town Council supported the installation of the new controversial new door in the Barrett Browning Institute on two separate occasions.
The council supported the initial applications in 2016 and then again, after three years, when the initial permissions had lapsed. But an earlier release from the town council appeared to distance the town council from the installation of the door.
That earlier statement said: “
There has been considerable discussion about the new door. Much has been unfairly aimed at Ledbury Town Council. The plans for the new door were first considered in 2016, with a further application with some amendments being received in January 2020. Many of the town councillors now serving were not in office at the time of the original application and when considering the amended plans earlier this year, these did not include any amendments to the already agreed plans for the new door.” ....

A lift for Ledbury's Market House?

THE issue of whether or not to install a lift in Ledbury’s iconic building, the Market House, is dividing opinion for the third time in less than two decades.
After a heated debate on social media this month, Ledbury Town Council, which owns the building, has taken the measure of denying that any decision either way has been decided.
Town Clerk, Angie Price, in a statement on behalf of the town council, said: “We note the passion of the town in respect of the idea of a lift being installed in the Market House.
“To date there have been no formal discussions on this issue nor has any work been confirmed.” ....
