As a final act to a 2021 Division II women’s lacrosse season that was marked by continuous COVID-19 disruptions, including postponed games, constant rescheduling, limited non-conference competition and no-contest decisions, the NCAA crowned a first-time champion on Sunday. Second-ranked Lindenwood outlasted No. 5 Queens 14-12 to claim its first title and become just the second team in the 20-year history of the Division II women’s championship from outside of New York, Massachusetts or Pennsylvania to hoist the champion’s trophy. ....

Tied 2-all with 24:14 remaining in the first half, Lindenwood went on a 10-3 scoring run to close the half with a 12-15. Lexy Biller played a key role in the run, tallying three of her team-high four goals in the first-half flurry. Biller also finished with a game-high eight draws to go along with three groundballs. Six different Lions registered at least a point in the win, as Emma Arnold tallied a hat trick and dished out an assist and Erin McGuire (2G, 1A) posted three points. ....
