A small earthquake was the source of the jolt that caused many people's homes to shake in the Midlands Monday night. The US Geological Survey confirmed the 2.6 magnitude quake struck at 6:53 p.m. and took place about a mile below the surface. The epicenter was between Batesburg-Leesville and Gilbert, about 2.4 miles southwest of the Summit area in Lexington County. People began messaging the WLTX social media channels and calling our newsroom.

Lexington, SC (WOLO) The Lexington Sheriff’s Department has arrested a man accused of breaking into his ex’s home after the victim ended the relationship.
Authorities say the incident took place Tuesday April 27, when the victim called police to alert them to the fact that an ex was inside the gated community where they live. Deputies responded and went to an area of the community where the victim believed the suspect, 41 year old Benjamin Yon would most likely be parked. That is the same location authorities say they found Yon’s car.

Lexington, SC (WOLO) May is right around the corner and so are the start of two weeks that recognize the hard work of the men and women who serve and protect the community everyday.
The Lexington Sheriff’s Department is gearing up for National Corrections Officers week, and National Police Week. The goal is make sure the deputies that go above and beyond the call of duty to keep operations in and outside of the Lexington jail running smoothly, while paying homage to those within the department who work to make the county a safe place to live, work and play.
