JUNEAU A man in a pickup truck was arrested after the state transportation department said he sped past boarding lines to get onto a state-run ferry Wednesday in Juneau and was heard by crew “muttering about a bomb and firearms.”
The Juneau Police Department said the man did not have a ticket and “made a comment about a bomb” when confronted by ferry employees at the Auke Bay terminal. The police department, in a statement, said the comment was not a direct threat and the man did not say he had a bomb. But it said the comment created concern. ....

University of California at Berkeley officials on Tuesday stripped another hall of its name, the fourth in a year s time.
Kroeber Hall, which honored anthropologist Alfred Kroeber, was unnamed because he continues to be associated with the ideas of exclusion and erasure of Native Americans. Kroeber is remembered as the founder of the study of anthropology in the American West. ....

1. Waynesville native wins X Games gold. After cutting his teeth on the slopes of Cataloochee Ski Area, Zeb Powell left home at age 13 to study snowboarding seriously at Vermont’s Stratton Mountain School. As a 19-year-old, he blew away the competition at his first-ever X Games competition, leading in all five runs to easily win the Wendy’s Snowboard Knuckle Huck in January.  ....
