ACT/SAT Requirement ACT and SAT tests are no longer required in the WSU admissions process. Regent Lura Powell said the Washington Student Achievement Council allowed public institutes to waive or make optional the two standardized tests in response to COVID-19. WSU’s temporary decision to waive the ACT and SAT is now permanent. The WSU Office of the Provost proposed the change, Powell said. The sentiment to move away from standardized tests has been building for a long time, particularly because of concerns for implicit cultural bias.
