LONDON, 15 March 2021: The British PM’s February announcement regarding the return of UK travellers to the skies prompted airline ticket sales to soar four times the previous week’s, according to the latest air ticketing data from Forwardkeys, a travel analytics firm. A SCHOOL community planted a tree this week in memory of those who died 80 years ago in the Clydebank Blitz. One of the bombs, a parachute landmine exploded in the playground of Bankhead Primary on the night of Thursday, March 13, 1941. At the time, the school was being used as an air raid precaution station, home to the Auxiliary Fire Service and a first aid post. It was also a base for boy messengers who relayed information. A total of 39 people were killed by the school explosion, including two boy messengers. Last week, the school planted an oak tree and plaque on the school grounds. Neil McLintock, son of one of the boy messengers, David McLintock, planted the tree. The ceremony was also attended by councillors Eva Murray, Chris Cunningham and Michael Cullen, along with parent council member Louise Millan, and school chaplain and St David s Church minister Graham Thain. ....
